St. Joseph School Gains Master School &
Library Certification
Joins Elite Ranks of National School Improvement Program
St. Joseph Elementary
School was awarded the highest national certification level for outstanding
performance in education for the 2007-08 school year!
Julie Neuner,
Librarian at St. Joseph Elementary School, was awarded Reading Master School by
Renaissance Learning. Master School
certification indicates that St. Joseph Elementary School’s efforts to adopt
Renaissance best classroom practices to a high degree resulted in measurable
improvements in student performance.
“Renaissance
Master Educators are at the leading edge of this nation’s effort to improve
education,” said Judi Paul, Chairman of the Board of Renaissance Learning. “St.
Joseph Elementary School has again shown that implementing Renaissance best
classroom practices not only improves individual student achievement, but creates
performance gains throughout the entire school over an extended period of
time.”
To achieve
Renaissance Master School certification, a school’s leadership must demonstrate
that their students are maintaining high-quality practice for a minimum of 18
weeks. In addition, educators must be
actively working with individual students to meet Renaissance recommended
standards and be helping each student work at the level that promotes the most
growth.

100% of our students met their 4th quarter goals!
Twelve students have joined the Honors Reader Club, which is the highest
level of reading certification in our school!
Way to go!

Keep up the great reading practice over the summer!

The damp weather did not dampen the spirits of the 78 second
through eighth grade St. Joseph school students who participated in the annual
AR auction. As they all gathered in the 1st grade classroom
anticipation grew for the bidding to begin. Mr. Ron Phillips, local auctioneer,
along with his faithful crew (Barb Phillips, and Gary and Bonnie Towers) once
again volunteered their time to help make this event another success. The
bidding began with the top item, a pair of Nick Shox donated by funds raised by
our Student Council. Emily Basler, was the lucky high bidder who will get to
custom build her shoes online! Other top items included, and IPOD shuffle, a
PS2 game system, a Milan soccer jersey, a girls and a boys bike, a High School
Musical MP3 player, various gift cards and many, many other fabulous items. All
of the items auctioned were donated by friends, family or local businesses. A
big thank you goes out to everyone who donated. Thanks to their generosity
every student went home with something.
The Kindergarten and 1st grade students were not left
out. They all received participation prizes for their hard work and great AR
reading efforts. All of our 2nd – 8th grade students
worked hard to meet their individual quarterly AR reading goals. For each
quarter that they met their book level goal, average percent correct, and their
points goal they received a bonus 100 points to spend at the auction.
It was a fantastic end to another super year of reading success at
St. Joes!
