All about 3rd Grade

Classroom News

I can’t wait to get to know everyone in our class!  It is truly a privilege to share the joys of Third grade with you! Students entering Third Grade will be met with a positive learning environment and a very positive attitude. J I want to make certain that students enjoy their learning experiences.  Students will be recognized for their positive attitudes.  To be successful adults, students must work cooperatively with others and practice the skill of teamwork.  This year your students will be evaluated on academic information, while also mastering communication and spiritual skills.  Students will learn to compromise, handle conflict, organizational skills, accept responsibility and much, much more!

Classroom Discipline Policy

Learning in 3rd grade is our main goal, however, interruptions in the learning process do occur from time to time.  If behavior interrupts the learning process, it is addressed immediately.  Children have a bee with their name on it.  If there is an interruption during class, children will be asked to move their name.  This is part of a “club” that focuses on each student taking responsibility for him/herself.  Membership to ICMM (I Can Manage Myself) includes privileges such as extra computer time, recess, movie time, game time or other special days.

Rewards

The class also works together and is rewarded as a group.  When the class is working quietly during class, walking in line nice, quite in the hall or receives a compliment from another teacher, they are rewarded for their exceptional work as a group.  Every time they are good a marble goes into their jar.  Marbles can be taken away from the jar when problems occur.  When their jar is full the students will then vote on a class reward.  This is a great way to enforce a positive group environment and cooperative learning!

Wow Tickets

Students will have many opportunities during the day and week to earn wow tickets.  Students can earn wow tickets for going the extra mile, having the most group points and anything else spectacular that they do.  Every Friday or the end of the week we will have a drawing to pick a prize from the treasure box.  I will draw three to four students per week.
